Cardboard Box Robots
Big imagination craft, excellent for rainy afternoons. Kids get to plan, build, decorate, and tell a story about their robot once it is finished.

Pipe cleaners or strips of cardboard for arms
Step by step
Let's make it
- 1
Choose the robot body
Pick one main box for the body and smaller pieces for the head, arms, or antennae.
Craft Coach tip
Mismatched shapes usually look better than perfect symmetry.
- 2
Build the shape
Tape or glue the pieces together into a robot body.
Craft Coach tip
Pre-cut tricky parts if your child is younger.
- 3
Add the face
Draw or glue on eyes, a mouth, and any silly features your robot needs.
Craft Coach tip
A surprised robot face is usually a hit.
- 4
Decorate the control panel
Use caps, stickers, and marker shapes to make pretend buttons and screens.
Craft Coach tip
Ask what each button does โ teleport? dance mode? snack alert?
- 5
Invent the robot story
Give the robot a name, job, and special power.
Craft Coach tip
This is where the craft turns into play.
